Updated: Feb 7, 2023

Seriously bone broth is a powerful immune boosting, inflammation fighting, nutrient-dense, digestive system and joint supporting food!

Bone broth is one of my most favorite nutrition tools. Every part of the body benefits from this amazing food. It is great for protecting and restoring joints, healing digestive problems, improving hair, skin and nail growth and appearance, supports and restores digestion and the gut lining while supporting a balanced gut microbiome and so so much more!

If there were such a thing as a perfect food bone broth could be it!

Turn this recipe into mouth watering soups, use in place of water in making rice or quinoa, add to sautéed veggies or simply enjoy it hot and seasoned in a mug!

Chicken Bone Broth

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken

  • 2 carrots, snapped in half

  • 2 celery sticks, sliced in half lengthwise

  • 1 clove garlic, smashed

  • 1 sm onion, quartered

  • 1 Bay leaf

  • Filtered water

  • Salt and Pepper

  • 2 Tbs apple cider vinegar

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients EXCEPT for apple cider vinegar in a crockpot

  2. Cover chicken with water

  3. Cook on low until meat is cooked (about 4-6 hours depending on the size of your chicken

  4. When meat is cooked, pull all meat from bones and store for later

  5. Return all bones, cartilage, skin, fat, feet, etc… to crockpot and add 2 Tbs apple cider vinegar. Continue cooking for a total of 24 to 36 hours.

  6. When done strain broth into glass jars and store in the refrigerator. If not using within a week or 2 pour cooled broth into plastic freezer bags and place in freezer

You will get a beautiful fat layer on top of your broth. When ready to use your broth scrape that fat off and store it the refrigerator. It can be used in place of cooking oil and adds great flavor to vegetables and all your savory dishes.
