Set Your Eyes on Him

"...Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard His word."

You know those days when you wake up to a very full schedule and kids that all need your and only your attention, right now! Like all of them at the same time. When you've got a bazillion "to do list" items going through your head and you're trying to organize them all into a 12 hour period while also multitasking breakfast, diaper changes, booty wiping, laundry, etc... Today I've come to realize that when you have children and a spouse it doesn't matter how big or small your house is or what your lifestyle is it can easily become chaos when your focus in on the things!

One of the reasons we decided to sell our 4000sf home and travel the U.S. in a 400sf fifth wheel was to downsize our life and downsize the crazy. The funny thing is that I still have moments of crazy even with about 90% less of the stuff and obligations we had before. Well this morning started out to be one of those crazy days. I was really struggling to get into the word, feeling like I should be getting laundry ready to take to the laundromat and getting kids showered and school work started. I was praying and trying to get my heart into a place of worship but I just wasn't feeling it. I ended my prayer with this, "Speak to my heart today Lord! Guide me through your word and manifest yourself to me!" I spoke it with expectation because I believe His word is truth and what He says He will do, He will do! John 14:21 says, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." So when I ask my Lord to manifest Himself to me, I know He will. And sure enough, I opened my bible and what do you know instant word right to my heart. Our God is so good. He knows your schedule, he knows your heart and he knows your families needs. Somedays I get sucked into a beautiful vortex of His word and revelation beyond my understanding and its awesome, and other days I get a very quick, sweet word and manifestation of a personal God who understands me! Let me share what He shared with me!

I was heading for the book of Romans but flipped open to Luke and saw the story of Mary and Martha and instantly knew what my Lord was speaking to me.

"Now it came to pass, as they went, that He entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, AND HEARD HIS WORD. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to Him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."- Luke 10:38-42

There is so much in these short few verses. Do you know that the Spirit of God is always in your home? He is always with you. When you go to the store or to pick up your kids from school He is there. When you meet your friend for dinner or go on a date with your husband, while you sit at work or are at home changing diapers He is there. Sometimes we get so consumed with the chaos and noise around us that we forget that He is quietly sitting right there, ready to reveal Himself to us when we are ready to stop and acknowledge Him. Do you know that He has a good thing for you? Often times in our hustle to get or create our own good thing we miss out on what He has for us which means we miss out on Him.

You know, I truly believe this is why so many of my Christ following friends struggle with depression and anxiety. Too much time focusing on the things and not enough time at His feet, hearing His word. Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart".God's word is powerful! Do you know what the difference is between your soul and your spirit? Your spirit is your inner man. The part of you that is completely made new in the likeness of Christ when you become a believer. This is the part of you that the Father sees when He looks on you. It is the part that has been made righteous (2 Cor. 5:21) and that part of you that will live on forever after your mortal body dies. Your soul is your mind, will and emotions. When you become a believe your soul remains the same as before. It is up to you to transform your soul into the likeness of your spirit. Romans 12:2 says,"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."  Your soul will always lean toward the flesh (which is led by the 5 senses, and the things of this world) unless you renew your mind in the word of God. If something bad happens to you you will be tempted to focus on that and be sad or frustrated but if you set your focus on God and meditate on His word this is what Romans 8:5-11 talks about  and you will naturally walk in the fruit of the Spirit. You will have love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness faithfulness, gentleness and self control (Gal. 5:22).

Our God is a personal God! He loves you and desires your heart just as much as He desires to give you His. He is a good gift, don't miss out on it because of things! The things, the worries, the hurts, frustrations, and tasks will all get done. Invite God to do them with you and He will give you the supernatural power to get them done but first stop and take the time to sit at His feet and hear His word! Get into scripture today and seek His heart! He will manifest Himself to you! Peace is with you!

Anyone else need some encouragement this morning? 2 Chronicles 20!! I heard the other day from someone who studies out the bible in intensity that throughout the scripture there are repeating themes.

There is an awesome story in 2 Chronicles 13 that I want to share with you. I just can't help but feel like it is a reflection of this moment we are currently living in. Sometimes it is almost painful
